"In 1858, the New York State Inebriate Asylum was founded for the medical treatment of inebriates. The building sits on 250 acres. The original graves of 1500 patients who died there were relocated in 1961 when Interstate 81 was constructed. WebDec 25, 2024 · The hospital fell into steep decline in the late 1900s with the introduction of modern medicinal treatments, until it finally closed its doors in 1993.
