When you choose to undergo a phalloplasty, it begins by doctors removing a skin flap from a part of your body, usually from the forearm. This flap is either removed entirely or left partially attached. The tissue is then used for making both a urethra and the penile shaft. Very few patients are suitable for this method as it requires that the subcutaneous fat on the thigh be not too thick. In addition, if a neo-urethra is required then the urethral segment must not be hairy.
